Bridges and Culverts Assessment, Condition Review, Asset Compensation & Unit Rates Project

Hinchinbrook Shire Council

Langtree Consulting was commissioned by Hinchinbrook Shire Council for the provision of bridge and culvert assessments, condition reviews, asset componentisation, a Forward Works Program and the preparation of unit rates for 26 bridges and 9 major culverts.

 

A Level 1 inspection of all 26 bridges and 9 major culverts with a Level 2 inspections and reports for the McGordon Creek Bridge and Copelys Creek Culverts, including the provision of recommendations for further investigations and testing or repairs. As part of the Level 2 Copelys Creek Culverts inspection a structural assessment was undertaken including measuring the remaining width of the 3.6m helcore pipes. 

 

A condition assessment was undertaken for each bridge and major culvert and a Forward Works Program was prepared highlighting all remediation or replacement works required and the proposed urgency of the wortks. Please note that as part of this process Langtree Consulting reviewed all existing inspection documents that were by the Council.  Based on this assessment a final report was prepared that considered the bridges and major culverts current load limits and their projected load limit after rehabilitation works. 

 

A detailed asset register of each bridge component was prepared which included componentisation of the structure and valuation for asset management purposes in accordance with Austroads Manual Guide to Asset Management Part 6: Bridge Performance.

 

Hinchinbrook Shire Council was in the process of developing an asset register of its rural pipes and culverts. As part of this project suitable unit rates for each size structure applicable to the Hinchinbrook Shire area was determined. There are 134 sizes of stormwater pipes currently being utilised throughout Hinchinbrook Shire Council.
